This elearning programme is designed to help midwives and other professionals improve outcomes for babies, mothers and families through safer deliveries. Specifically, it explores how to reduce avoidable issues that can lead to infants born at term being admitted to neonatal units. There is also a specific session designed to raise awareness of the importance of keeping mother and baby together. The programme has been developed by Health Education England elearning for Healthcare, NHS Improvement and the UK ATAIN (Avoiding Term Admissions Into Neonatal units) programme team. The elearning programme addresses the key learning needs identified through Attain, with a focus on four key clinical areas: respiratory conditions hypoglycaemia jaundice asphyxia (perinatal hypoxia–ischaemia). The Attain programme also identified the impact of mother baby separation, and so a specific session has been included to raise awareness of the importance of keeping mother and baby together.
